Rise of the RISE Awards: Congratulations, Drs. Marlin, Kohwi, and Hillman! 

 Three of our ZI investigators are recipients of Columbia's Research Initiatives in Science and Engineering (RISE) Awards!

Dr. Bianca Jones Marlin (ZI Investigator, Depts. of Psychology and Neuroscience) and Dr. Mijo Simunovic (Dept. of Chemical Engineering) are recipients of a RISE award for their proposal "A role of ancestral stress on the single cell transcriptional and epigenetic atlas of mammalian pregnancy disorders."

Dr. Minoree Kohwi (ZI Investigator, Dept. of Neuroscience) and Dr. Elizabeth Hillman (ZI Investigator, Depts. of Biomedical Engineering and Radiology), are recipients of a RISE award for their proposal "Real-time in vivo imaging of neural stem cell nuclear architecture dynamics in developing Drosophila embryos."

Eligibility Overview:

1. U.S. Citizen/National/Permanent Resident

2. Possess an advanced degree such as a doctoral-level degree

3. Have total qualifying educational debt equal to or in excess of 20% of your institutional annual base salary
4. Engage in qualified research for at least 20 hours per week during each quarterly service period of the award (~2 years)
